Newton Faulkner’s second single ‘Dream Catch Me’ sees an injection of writing prowess from Longpigs vocalist Crispin Hunt who, whilst in a brief gap before his focus on a solo career, is working along side the likes of Natalie Imbruglia, I am Finn, Jade Ewen and Newton Faulkner on a writing/ producing basis.
Faulkner’s music has always been a platform on which to show his love for acoustically charged pop/ rock and this track relays that. With the collaborative talents of Hunt, the inner most thoughts and feelings to Faulkner have not been quelled or dulled down, in fact quite the opposite. The track initiates with an electro-drum beat which initially appears misplaced together with a simple acoustic and vocal arrangement from Faulkner. This uncomfortable union soon gives way however to a beautiful instrumental arrangement, a catchy chorus, and a gravely, earthy, Bon Jovi inspired vocal that is spell binding. The rapturous reception that Faulkner received at Glastonbury recently is a sure sign that things are about to get a lot better.
