A crowd of hundreds turned out to get a glimpse of the celebrity socialite in Costa Mesa.
Paris Hilton greeted the masses at South Coast Plaza Friday with an honest statement: "Hey everybody, it's good to be back at Macy's."
Sure, while it's probably been a while since the multi-millionaire had actually been in a Macy's store, she had good reason to hit up the mall – the heiress was there to promote her new Paris Hilton Footwear Collection.
A crowd of hundreds – from shrieking teenage boys and girls to mothers with babies – turned out to snap photos and get a glimpse of Hilton. The first 200 people that purchased a pair from her line even got an autographed picture, after standing politely in line for nearly three hours.
One side of the packed room flooded with blinding flashbulbs as photographers, packed behind a barricade, screamed stuff like "Paris, over here!" and "You're so sexy!" in true paparazzi fashion. Accustomed to the attention, Paris simply turned and struck a couple of poses for them.
Hilton brought out her collection, ranging from shiny stilettos to strappy, animal-print numbers, and everybody seemed satisfied.
"I love Paris, we all love Paris. The shoes are really cute; they're trendy and I like the line," said Newport Coast resident Christine Young, who brought along her 9-month-old daughter, Avery. "She can't fit them yet, so Mama got the pair."
Hilton said she works with a design team to nail down different looks for the line, but that she has the final say. She said she personally owns more than 1,000 pairs of shoes, and the ones from her line are her favorites.
"I have shoes from, like, every top designer, but I love that my shoes are not, like, $800, like most of my shoes, and they are much more comfortable," she said.
She spends $800 on a pair of shoes? I didn't know drag queen shoes cost that much. I'm sure that's what she has to buy since she wears like a size 16 or something. She has fucking boat feet.
I don't know who would spend one cent on that crap. You can guy that exact shit at Bakers and it's probably better quality.
