Spears went under the knife to get bigger breasts. But she then decided they were TOO large. So she had surgery to get rid of her new implants, Rolling Stone magazine claims.
The magazine reports in its new issue: “According to a source, she and Lynne had made the decision for her to get them, on the assumption that the culture demanded it, but the press leapt on her scornfully.
“She regretted the implants, particularly because her chest was still growing.
“And when her natural breasts became larger, she had the implants removed.”
Friend Darrin Henson told the magazine: “When other girls did their boobs, they were like, ‘Yeah I did my boobs, move on’ but Britney was brought up to lie about herself.
“Britney would come offstage after performing in front of 15 to 16,000 people and start crying because she thought she was terrible.”
He added: “The girl doesn’t know who she is.”
Spears, 26, has always denied she was surgically enhanced.
The troubled Toxic singer posed for a sexually suggestive cover of Rolling Stone magazine in April 1999. The image sparked a debate in the media over whether the then 17-year-old star had had breast implants.
An unnamed pal told Rolling Stone: “When Britney saw the papers she was crying uncontrollably, asking, ‘Why is everyone being so mean to me?’
“It was very hurtful for her to go through something so private so publicly.”
The new issue also details the chart star’s unraveling mental state. It includes an account of the singer verbally abusing a fan and breaking down in a shopping centre. When her credit card failed to go through she is reported to have reacted furiously.
“A wail emerges from the cubby - guttural, vile, the kind of base animalistic shriek only heard at a family member’s deathbed. ‘F*** these bitches,’ screams Britney, each word ringing out between sobs. ‘These idiots can’t do anything right!’” according to an excerpt from the forthcoming article.
Vanessa Grigoriadis wrote for Rolling Stone that after a crowd had gathered Spears was approached by a fan for a photograph: “‘I don’t want her talking to me!’ she screams. She whirls around and stares the girl deep in the eyes, her lips almost vibrating with anger. ‘I don’t know who you think I am, bitch,” she snarls, ‘but I’m not that person’”.
Spears is currently outta a Los Angeles psychiatric hospital where she is having treatment after being sectioned.
